Founder’s Lifelong Journey to Become a Leadership Coach

Different as a result of ambition, professional training, work experience, and the combination of many formative experiences over the years that have led to a genuine understanding of the challenges we all face in integrating work and life.

The Will to Turn a Legacy of Hardship into Leadership

My commitment to personal, individual, organizational, and community improvement stems from the toughness instilled in a blue-collar industrial region of Pennsylvania, where I was raised. My grandfathers labored in the anthracite coal mines and their families thrived despite being raising in the harsh living conditions to which they were subjected. Their children, my mother and father, toiled in the once-thriving textile mills during high school to support the family’s basic needs. I worked in those same factories during my high school years when they were in sharp decline. The resultant economic hardship I saw became increasingly evident in the lives of the people and the community and forever impacted me as a leader.

The Insight and Resilience to Bridge Vision and Achievement

Armed with vision and a passion for driving change, my career after college began in the Bethlehem Steel Loop Program, where I was honored before the age of 30 with the Gold Award, as one of the top 10 leaders among 80,000 employees.  I led fascinating projects that delivered products for the Arecibo telescope, Naval aircraft carriers, and the Brooklyn Bridge refurbishment.

The early recognition of my innovative leadership and planning skills, coupled with my experience as a competitive athlete, forged my resilience, emotional intelligence, strategic insight, and analytical confidence. My hands-on approach in the trenches sets me apart from others in consulting and leadership roles

The Passion and Commitment to Understand the Benefit of Continuous Learning

Contributing to and learning from the growth and evolution of people and divisions in diverse sectors, for over 35 years, including, US and European corporations, privately held companies, private equity and nonprofits. My experience is complemented by an engineering degree from the Pennsylvania State University, MBA from the University of Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business, Strategic Leadership Program at the Center for Creative Leadership, and a yearlong graduate certificate program in Organizational Leadership and Coaching as part of Northwestern University’s MS in Learning and Organizational Change.

The Life Experience to Appreciate the Challenge of Work-Life Integration

An understanding of the significance of personal challenges and growth opportunities that occur alongside careers, raising children as a single parent while developing as a leader.  An appreciation for what mattering outside of work means to personal fulfillment and development in life. Leadership of initiatives within the Chicago Booth community since graduation, and the Atlanta Business School Alliance (https://atlantabsa.com) serving 15,000 alumni of 20 leading graduate business schools and non-profits in the Atlanta metro community since the early 2000’s.
